Is it mandatory to have a V16 beacon?
Yes. Starting January 1, 2026 , it is mandatory to carry a V16 warning beacon approved by the DGT (Directorate General of Traffic). Old warning triangles will no longer be valid under the new traffic regulations.
Is this beacon approved?
Yes. The VIGILUZ beacon is approved by the DGT (Directorate of Traffic) with certificate number IDIADA PC23100037 , which guarantees its legal and safe use throughout Spain.
How do you activate it?
It features a red, instant-activation button . Simply press it to begin emitting the light signal. There's no need to exit the vehicle, which increases driver safety.
Does it include batteries?
Yes. The device comes with 3 long-life AA alkaline batteries (Maxell brand) already installed and ready to use.
Does it work in areas without coverage?
Yes. Thanks to NB-IoT technology , the V16 beacon can transmit its location even in tunnels, rural areas or areas with poor mobile coverage , improving its reliability.
Where is it placed?
It can be mounted on the roof of the vehicle or on metal surfaces such as safety barriers . It features an ultra-strong magnetic base that ensures a firm hold even in windy or rainy weather.
Does it automatically connect to the DGT?
Yes. When activated, the VIGILUZ beacon automatically connects to the DGT 3.0 platform using its integrated GSM and GPS chip , sending its real-time position to traffic services.
Is connectivity included?
Yes. The beacon includes 12 years of GSM connectivity at no additional cost , with no subscriptions or extra payments required. It's ready to go right out of the box.
Can I use it in any car?
Yes. The approved V16 beacon is compatible with any type of vehicle , including cars, vans, caravans, and motorcycles.
